Liverpool-based sales and marketing firm, Skyline Marketing host workshop based on the seven habits of highly effective people.
With personal development at the forefront of Skyline Marketing’s mentoring services, the firm believes budding entrepreneurs shouldn’t overlook Stephen Covey’s bestseller ‘the seven habits of highly effective people’. Last week saw the business host a workshop designed around raising awareness of the seven habits; the Skyline Marketing were looking to inspire their contractors to take the time to read the book in greater detail.
Skyline Marketing shares their brief overview of Stephen Coveys 7 habits:
Habit 1: Be Proactive – Focusing on controllable external influencers allows an individual to improve their lives through actions centred on work they can influence and impact. Successful people understand this change is internal, and the change must come from them.
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind – Successful people know their personal mission statement. The principles they centre all their actions around. For those looking to determine their perceived character should assess their actual behaviours against their personal beliefs, to see if they are a good match.
Habit 3: Put First Things First – Successful people can identify key roles in their profile and can take time for each of them. It is important to continually review commitments to ensure every task is given the attention it requires.
Habit 4: Think Win/Win – By choosing projects that are mutually beneficial, entrepreneurs will achieve much more in their careers. Sometimes it is better to turn down projects that offer little gain and free up time for more suitable tasks.
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood – Communication skills are imperative in achieving success. Stephen Covey is keen to highlight the importance of seeking to understand an alternative viewpoint before offering a personal stance. Regardless of differing opinions, interpersonal relationships will flourish.
Habit 6: Synergize – When collaborating it is key to adding value through partnership. Solving conflicts can result in higher productivity if mutual trust and understanding are respected.
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw – Personal and social activities should be dominant in a person’s overall plans. A good work-life balance will extend itself to an overall feeling of happiness and success.
